1]Radiology

Radiology represents a branch of medicine that deals with radiant energy in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. This field can be divided into two broad areas – diagnostic radiology and intervention radiology. A physician who specializes in radiology is called radiologist.

The outcome of an imaging study does not rely merely on the indication or the quality of its technical execution. Diagnostic radiology specialist represents the last link in the diagnostic chain, as they search for relevant image information to evaluate and finally support a sound diagnosis.

History of radiology

Working in a darkened laboratory in Würzburg in Germany in 1895, Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen noticed that a screen painted with a fluorescent material in the same room, but a couple of feet away from a cathode ray tube he had energized and made lightproof, started to fluoresce.

Röntgen recognized that the screen was responding to the nearby production of unknown rays transmitted invisibly through the room which he called “X-rays”. Radio-graphic images began to be created, starting as a burst of ionizing radiation and causing a contrast image on a piece of film.

For his discovery, Röntgen was honored with the first Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901, and the public was fascinated with the ensuing developments and implications. Nevertheless, early radiologists were not concerned about the potential negative effects of X-rays, thus protective measures were not introduced until 1904 after the death of Clarence Dally (the long-time assistant of Thomas Edison in X-ray manufacture and testing).

Radiologists are medical doctors (MDs) or doctors of osteopathic medicine (DOs) who specialize in diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries using medical imaging techniques, such as x-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET) and ultrasound.

2] ORTHOLOGY

An Orthology Affiliated Physical Therapist’s goal is to break the cycle of injury to prevent future re-injury. It’s a comprehensive, evidence-based approach. You’ll receive quality one-on-one time with true experts in the musculoskeletal field. Often times it can be a collaborative effort between your Orthology Affiliated Physical Therapist and other health professionals – they do whatever is necessary to get you on the quickest path to recovery.

They are focused on targeting and eliminating the root cause of your pain or injury while standard services may consider just the symptoms. The foundation is built on a treatment process developed by industry-leading healthcare professionals and proven through years of evidence based research. The Approach is comprised of direct engagement with injured tissues through mechanical stimuli and manual interventions to initiate tissue remodeling—turning movement into tissue healing.

3] DERMATOLOGY

A dermatologist is the medical expert you should consult if you have any significant problem with your skin. Dermatology is the science that is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the skin, hair and nails.

The New Zealand Dermatological Society Incorporated’s definition is comprehensive:
Dermatology involves but is not limited to study, research, and diagnosis of normal and disorders, diseases, cancers, cosmetic and ageing conditions of the skin, fat, hair, nails and oral and genital membranes, and the management of these by different investigations and therapies, including but not limited to dermatohistopathology, topical and systemic medications, dermatologic surgery and dermatologic cosmetic surgery, immunotherapy, phototherapy, laser therapy, radiotherapy and photodynamic therapy.

Common skin diseases:
Skin cancer
Warts
Fungal infections
Dermatitis
Psoriasis – a skin disorder which affects 100,000 New Zealanders.
Acne affects every teenager to one degree or another.
Hand dermatitis, resulting from external contact with detergents and household
chemicals, affects most women with young families.
One in six of all children develop atopic eczema
One in five persons suffers from cold sores (herpes simplex). How are dermatologists trained:Dermatologists are medical doctors. In New Zealand, after completing six years of medical school the dermatologist-to-be must complete a general medical training programme which usually takes 3 to 4 years. After a rigorous examination (FRACP) he or she is then eligible to enter advanced training. The advanced training in dermatology involves at least a further four years of intensive study, research and practice in a variety of approved training centers in New Zealand and overseas. The position is usually that of a registrar or training fellow who is closely supervised by experienced dermatologists.
In total, a dermatologist has a minimum of 13 years of training

Dermatologists :In New Zealand in 2014, there are about 60 practicing dermatologists, of whom most are members of the NZDS, the New Zealand Dermatological Society Incorporated, the organization which oversees professional standards and continuing medical education. Members of the Society are Vocationally Registered as Dermatologists by the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Continuing professional development (CPD) helps to keep dermatologists up to date and is a requirement for registration by the Medical Council of New Zealand. DermNet New Zealand oversees an online CPD certification programme. This is accomplished through annual clinical audit, peer review, practice visits, publications, teaching, reading journals, and attendance at courses, symposia, lectures and seminars organized by Dermatological Societies worldwide.

What do dermatologists do:Trained dermatologists usually combine several activities – seeing patients in public hospital clinics and/or in private practices, acting as consultants to other specialists, teaching, and delving into clinical or basic research.

Dermatologists must have expertise in basic sciences including microbiology, pathology, biochemistry, physics, physiology, and endocrinology. They must be familiar with all the other medical specialties because of their consultant work and because skin diseases are often associated with internal conditions.

Dermatologists perform skin surgery in many situations:To prevent or provide early control of disease, eg:remove skin cancer. To improve the skin’s appearance by removing growths, discolourations, or damage caused by ageing, sunlight or disease.
To establish a definite diagnosis (biopsy).

Positives and Negatives of a Doctor’s Job

Let’s take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of a career as a doctor.
Income:Salary, which varies according to experience, specialty, and setting, is an advantage for physicians. Most physicians enjoy above-average earnings. For example, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, family and general practitioners earned median annual salaries of $184,390 in May of 2015.

Personal Satisfaction:A study conducted in 2002 by the American Medical Association showed that physician satisfaction varied by specialty; however, in general, about 42% of physicians showed satisfaction with their career. Other factors that contribute to personal satisfaction may include research and training opportunities and the freedom to provide quality healthcare.

Time Consumption:Doctors often cite long training periods in medical school and the high tuition costs associated with it as a disadvantage. Time remains an issue even after earning a medical degree, since physicians often work long hours and don’t have as much time to spend with family and friends as they’d like.

Job-Related Stress:Just as saving lives can be rewarding, the responsibilities that come with being a doctor can be stressful, such as making a mistake, losing a patient, or fearing the loss of one. According to a 2002 article appearing on the National Center for Biotechnology Information website, 73% of junior doctors on cardiac arrest teams found cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) stressful.

Individuals surveyed note that stress was due largely to unfortunate outcomes. Other issues included the failure of senior staff to give ‘Do Not Resuscitate’ orders for applicable patients, no advanced life support training prior to performing CPR, or simply just having to perform the procedure. Doctors also reported that they sometimes find it difficult to discuss CPR with patients and their families.

Lawsuits:Medical malpractice suits are another disadvantage. As reported by the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, nearly 2,500 medical malpractice cases were handled in general jurisdiction courts in 2005. Although plaintiffs won less than one-fourth of the cases, medical malpractice suits can still sully a doctor’s reputation.

The advantages of becoming a doctor include high salary and personal satisfaction; but disadvantages include time consumption, stress, and lawsuits.

4]general medicine

general-medicine:Internal medicine or general medicine (in Commonwealth nations) is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in general medicine are called internists, or physicians (without a modifier) in Commonwealth nations. Internists are skilled in the management of patients who have undifferentiated or multi-system disease processes. Internists care for hospitalized and ambulatory patients and may play a major role in teaching and research.

Because internal medicine patients are often seriously ill or require complex investigations, internists do much of their work in hospitals. Internists often have sub specialty interests in diseases affecting particular organs or organ systems.

Internal medicine is also a specialty within clinical pharmacy and veterinary medicine.

Medical diagnosis and treatment:Medicine is mainly focused on the art of diagnosis and treatment with medication, but many sub specialties administer procedural treatment are:-
Cardiology: angioplasty, cardio version, cardiac ablation, intro-aortic balloon pump
Critical care medicine: mechanical ventilation
Gastroenterology: endoscopy and ERC
Nephrology: dialysis
Pulmonology: Bronchoscopy

7]Master of Surgery

The Master of Surgery is an advanced qualification in surgery. Depending upon the degree, it may be abbreviated Ch.M., M.Ch., M.Chir. or M.S. At a typical medical school the program lasts between two and three years. The possession of a medical degree is a prerequisite. The Ch.M. can be awarded on both clinical and academic competency or on academic competency. The regulations may ask for surgical experience and a thesis topic that is not purely medical, but otherwise there is little to distinguish the ChM from the MD.

The Masters of Surgery, or Ch.M. is an advanced qualification in surgical medicine, established in Great Britain in the middle of the 19th century. The qualification was designed to be awarded as a higher degree to the Bachelor of Surgery degree.

Many universities have stopped holding written and clinical examinations for the Ch.M., and focused solely on the thesis and oral examination. Only Oxford and Cambridge still have a (“Part One”) examination before submission of the thesis and oral examination on the same for the degrees which they abbreviate as M.Ch. and M.Chir. respectively.

Many universities stopped offering the Ch.M. award when it became common for trainee surgeons to take the F.R.C.S. examination of one or other Royal College of Surgeons in basic sciences and clinical subjects.

Master of Surgery admission under management quota through our guidance and service are available, Our team of Master of Surgery admission consultants helps you to make your dream career come true as a PG holder on Master of Surgery.

8]Pediatrics

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that deals with the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents, and the age limit usually ranges from birth up to 18-21 years of age (in some places until completion of secondary education). A medical practitioner who specializes in this area is known as a pediatrician, or pediatrician. The word pediatrics and its cognates mean “healer of children”; they derive from two Greek words: pa?? (pais “child”) and ?at??? (iatros “doctor, healer”). Pediatricians work both in hospitals, particularly those working in its specialized sub fields such as neonatology, and as primary care physicians.

As a pediatrician, your main occupational tasks involve providing medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. You are responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses. You will also administer the many immunizations that are available to protect children from diseases such as hepatitis B, diphtheria, polio, measles, and the mumps. Routine check-ups are also part of your common tasks list, with the intent of monitoring a child’s growth and development from birth to adulthood.

You will work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide children with medical care to the fullest extent possible. Another important part of your job revolves around working with your patients’ parents or guardians to teach them how to provide proper care to their children. This may include tips on improving childhood eating habits, promoting regular exercise, and improving personal hygiene.
Important Facts About Pediatricians

Educational Requirements

As with other types of physicians, pediatricians are required to earn a doctoral degree, such as a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. The first half of a medical doctor degree consists of advanced science courses and acquaints you with the procedures, laws, and ethics of the medical world. The second half provides you with clinical hospital experience through rotations in the main areas of medical care, including pediatrics.

Once the doctoral program is completed and you’ve decided to pursue a career as a pediatrician, you enter a pediatrics residency program, which lasts at least three years. Through the residency program, you learn to perform pediatric duties at the professional level in critical care, ambulatory care, and in-patient settings. You will undergo various rotations in topics such as newborn intensive care, development disabilities, anesthesia procedures, and adolescent medicine.

9]Anesthesia

Anesthesia is the administration of medication to allow medical procedures to be done without pain, and in some cases, without the patient being aware during the procedure. There are a variety of types of anesthesia, as well as several different medical professions that are able to give anesthesia.

Anesthesia is used in a wide range of procedures, from highly invasive surgeries, such as open-heart surgery, to minor procedures such as having a tooth extracted.

Human Anatomy and Physiology:Various organ systems and cellular components in relation to Anesthesia including muscles, neuromuscular junction, nerve plexuses, cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, hepatobiliary, renal, endocrine and temperature homeostasis, theories of mechanism of production of anesthesia, changes during pregnancy, various tests/investigations to evaluate the functional status of organ systems as applied to Anesthesia Management, Intensive Care Practice and Pain Relief.

Pharmacology:As applied to Anesthesia, Intensive Care Practice and Pain Relief including General Pharmacological Principles, Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Anesthetic Drugs (including Uptake and Distribution of Inhaled Anesthesia agents and All the Adjuncts used in Anesthesia, Drugs used for treatment of various Diseases and Drug Interaction.

Pathophysiology of various diseases:Including disorders of cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, hepatobiliary, renal, endocrine and immune systems, various tests/investigations to grade/measure the disease process of various organ systems as applied to anesthesia management, intensive care practice and pain relief.

Society and culture:Further information: Anesthesia provision in the United States, Anesthesiologist, and Nurse anesthetist

Almost all healthcare providers use anesthesia to some degree, however most health professions have their own field of specialists in the field including medicine, nursing and dentistry.

Doctors specializing in perioperative care, development of an anesthetic plan, and the administration of anesthetics are known in the US as anesthesiologists and in the UK, Canada, Australia, and NZ as anaesthetists or anaesthesiologists. All anesthetics in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Japan are administered by doctors. Nurse anesthetists also administer anesthesia in 109 nations.[47] In the US, 35% of anesthetics are provided by physicians in solo practice, about 55% are provided by anesthesia care teams (ACTs) with anesthesiologists medically directing anesthesiologist assistants or certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), and about 10% are provided by CRNAs in solo practice. There can also be anesthesiologist assistants (US) or physician assistant (anaesthesia) (UK) who assist with anesthesia.

Special populations:There are many circumstances when anesthesia needs to be altered for special circumstances due to the procedure (such as in cardiac surgery, cardiothoracic anesthesiology or neurosurgery), the patient (such as in pediatric anesthesia, geriatric, bariatric or obstetrical anesthesia) or special circumstances (such as in trauma, prehospital care, robotic surgery or extreme environments).

10] Child Health

Orthodontist

An orthodontist is a dentist who specializes in straightening a patient’s teeth with braces, headgear, plates and other dental appliances. Orthodontists also control and treat a wide variety of facial growths, as well as working with the way that the human jaw develops.
Orthodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry. An orthodontist is an expert in the diagnosing, preventing and treating dental and facial irregularities, or “malocclusion,” which means “bad bite.” Orthodontists are skilled in treatments that will bring teeth, lips and jaws into proper alignment.

Orthodontia, also known as orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, is a specialty field of dentistry. An orthodontist is a specialist who has undergone special training in a dental school or college after they have graduated in dentistry. It was established by the efforts of pioneering orthodontists such as Edward Angle and Norman William Kingsley. The specialty deals primarily with the diagnosis, prevention and correction of mal-positioned teeth and the jaws.

Benefits and Reasons for Orthodontic Treatment:

The benefits of orthodontic treatment often go beyond the obvious physical changes of an improved bite and straighter teeth; it’s also a great way to improve a person’s overall self-image.   While having beautiful straight teeth is important, even more important is the need to alleviate any potential health problems associated with the teeth or jaw.  Crooked teeth or jaw problems may contribute to improper cleaning of teeth, leading to tooth decay and, possibly, gum disease or total tooth loss.  Orthodontic problems that go untreated can lead to chewing and digestion difficulties, speech impairments, and abnormal wear of tooth surfaces.  Over time, excessive strain on gum tissue and the bone that supports the teeth can affect the jaw joints leading to problems such as headaches or face and neck pain.
The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that children get an orthodontic evaluation no later than age 7.  Though orthodontic treatment can be done at any age, timely treatment ensures maximum dental health.

With all of the recent advancements in orthodontics, wearing braces has never been easier.  State-of-the-art appliances and treatments are now available, from traditional metal braces, to clear and tooth colored brackets, to NASA type wires that are heat activated.  Some patients may even be candidates for treatment with clear retainer type aligners that require no braces or wires.
If treatment is necessary, we will thoroughly discuss which treatment option is best suited for you.

Reasons for orthodontic treatment (braces) adults & children:
Breathing or swallowing problems – Mouth breathing can lead to snoring and sleep apnea.
Crossbite – One or more upper teeth bite inside the lower teeth (towards the tongue).
Crowding – Involving extra teeth or malpositioned teeth.
Deep Overbite – The lower front teeth bite into the upper tissue of the upper teeth.
Disfiguring of the face & mouth – Affects the development of the jaw and position of the teeth.
Missing or extra teeth – Due to tooth decay, injuries, or inherited problems.
Overjet (protruding upper teeth) – Upper teeth that protrude beyond normal and are usually associated with a short lower jaw.
    Self-image – An attractive smile can boost a person’s self-image and confidence.
Spacing between teeth – Teeth are missing or may be too small or too large.
Speech, chewing or biting problems – Result from improper occlusion and jaw alignment
Underbite (lower jaw protrusion) – Lower jaw is longer than the upper jaw.

Specific to children:

Finger or thumb sucking – These habits can cause protrusion of the upper incisor teeth and constriction of the upper jaw.
Teeth erupting out of position – Can be guided to proper alignment.

What does orthodontic treatment involve?

Orthodontic treatment involves three stages:

1.  Planning Stage – Your first couple of visits may include the following:
A medical and dental history evaluation.
Castings or “molds” of your teeth.
Photographs of your face and mouth.
X-rays of the teeth and jaws.
After careful planning, your orthodontist will design and apply braces or fabricate custom-made appliances for you.
2.  Active Stage – Active treatment involves visiting your orthodontist on a regular basis for adjustments and following specific treatment requirements to ensure successful treatment.
3.  Retention Stage – When treatment is completed, the braces and/or appliances are removed and a new appliance is made.  Usually these retainers are removable and will help to maintain the changes made to your teeth if worn as instructed.

Treatment and retention times vary depending on each individual case.  However, retention is a lifetime process.  Your orthodontist will ensure you have a successful treatment for a beautiful smile that can last a lifetime.

MDS seats in Endodontic & Orthodontic 2017

mds admission-Endodontic & Orthodontic

MDS admission in dental department

Endodontic & Orthodontic

Endodontics
Endodontists are dentists who specialize in saving teeth through different procedures which involve the pulp (nerve) and root of teeth. Endodontist comes from the Greek “endo” meaning inside and the word “odont” meaning tooth. All dentists are trained to treat and diagnose diseases of the pulp (nerve), however, some teeth can be especially difficult to diagnose and treat. Reason why some patients are referred to the endodontist.

An endodontist, as defined by the American Board of Endodontists, is a dental specialist in the treatment of diseases and injuries to the dental pulp, root and surrounding tissues of the teeth. Endodontists receive a “certificate in Endodontics” after additional 2-3 years of training in an accredited dental program after dental school.Endodontics

Endodontists are dentists who specialize in maintaining teeth through endodontic therapy – procedures, involving the soft inner tissue of the teeth, called the pulp. The word “endodontic” comes from “endo” meaning inside and “odont” meaning tooth. Like many medical terms, it’s Greek. All dentists are trained in diagnosis and endodontic therapy, however, some teeth can be especially difficult to diagnose and treat. That’s why you may have been referred to an endodontic specialist.

In addition to dental school, endodontist’s receive two or more years of advanced education in this kind of treatment. They study root canal techniques and procedures in greater depth, for diagnosis and treatment of more difficult cases. For this reason, many dentists choose to refer their patients to endodontist.

Endodontic specialists

Endodontic specialists practice in the branch of dentistry that is concerned with the morphology and pathology of the pulpo-dentine complex and periradicular tissues. Its study and practice encompasses the basic clinical sciences including the biology of the normal pulp, and the aetiology, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases and injuries to the pulp and associated perpendicular tissues.

Specialist endodontics is undertaken by a dental practitioner who possesses additional postgraduate qualifications, training and experience recognized by the Council as appropriate for registration.

Orthodontist

Orthodontia, also known as orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, is a specialty field of dentistry. An orthodontist is a specialist who has undergone special training in a dental school or college after they have graduated in dentistry. It was established by the efforts of pioneering orthodontists such as Edward Angle and Norman William Kingsley. The specialty deals primarily with the diagnosis, prevention and correction of malpositioned teeth and the jaws.

Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry that specializes in treating patients with improper positioning of teeth when the mouth is closed (malocclusion), which results in an improper bite.

Orthodontics also includes treating and controlling various aspects of facial growth (dentofacial orthopedics) and the shape and development of the jaw. An orthodontics specialist is called an orthodontist.

Orthodontics used to be called orthodontia – the word comes from the Greek orthos, meaning “straight, perfect or proper”, and dontos, which means “teeth”.

Orthodontics also includes cosmetic dentistry; when the patient’s aim is to improve his/her appearance.

An orthodontist uses a range of medical dental devices, including headgears, plates, braces, etc. to help in:

Closing wide gaps between the teeth
Making sure the tips of the teeth are aligned
Straightening crooked teeth
To improve speech or eating (oral function)
To improve the long-term health of gums and teeth
To prevent long-term excessive wear or trauma (of the teeth)
Treating an improper bite

Orthodontic specialists:

Orthodontic specialists practice in the branch of dentistry that is concerned with the supervision, guidance and correction of the growing and mature dentofacial structures and includes the diagnoses, prevention, interception and treatment of all forms of malocclusion of the teeth and associated alterations in their surrounding structures.

Specialist orthodontics is undertaken by a dental practitioner who possesses additional postgraduate qualifications, training, and experience recognized by the Council as appropriate for registration.

Anesthesia admissions at Bangalore medical institutes 2017-18

anesthesia admission at Bangalore colleges

Anesthesia admission through management quota

Anesthesia is a way to control pain during a surgery or procedure by using medicine called anesthetics. It can help control your breathing, blood pressure, blood flow, and heart rate and rhythm.

Anesthesia may be used to:
Relax you.
Block pain.
Make you sleepy or forgetful.
Make you unconscious for your surgery.
Other medicines may be used along with anesthesia, such as ones to help you relax or to reverse the effects of anesthesia.

 Types of anesthesia

Local anesthesia:Local anesthesia:numbs a small part of the body for minor procedures. For example, you may get a shot of medicine directly into the surgical area to block pain. You may stay awake during the procedure.

Regional anesthesia:Regional anesthesia blocks pain to a larger part of your body. You may also get medicine to help you relax or sleep. Types of regional anesthesia include:
Peripheral nerve blocks. This is a shot of anesthetic to block pain around a specific nerve or group of nerves. Blocks are often used for procedures on the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face.

Epidural and spinal anesthesia:This is a shot of anesthetic near the spinal cord and the nerves that connect to it. It blocks pain from an entire region of the body, such as the belly, hips, or legs.

General anesthesia:General anesthesia affects your brain and the rest of your body. You may get some anesthetics through a vein (intravenously, or IV), and you may breathe in some anesthetics. With general anesthesia, you’re unconscious and you don’t feel pain during the surgery

In the practice of medicine (especially surgery and dentistry), anesthesia is a temporary induced loss of sensation or awareness. It may include analgesia (relief from or prevention of pain), paralysis (muscle relaxation), amnesia (loss of memory), or unconsciousness. A patient under the effects of anesthetic drugs is referred to as being anesthetized.

Anesthesia enables the painless performance of medical procedures that would cause severe or intolerable pain to an UN-anesthetized patient. Three broad categories of anesthesia exist:
General anesthesia suppresses central nervous system activity and results in unconsciousness and total lack of sensation.Sedation suppresses the central nervous system to a lesser degree, inhibiting both anxiety and creation of long-term memories without resulting in unconsciousness.
Regional anesthesia and local anesthesia, which block transmission of nerve impulses between a targeted part of the body and the central nervous system, causing loss of sensation in the targeted body part. A patient under regional or local anesthesia remains conscious, unless general anesthesia or sedation is administered at the same time. Two broad classes exist:
Peripheral blockade inhibits sensory perception in an isolated part of the body, such as numbing a tooth for dental work or administering a nerve block to inhibit sensation in an entire limb.
Central, or neuraxial, blockade administers the anesthetic in the region of the central nervous system itself, suppressing incoming sensation from outside the area of the block. Examples include epidural anesthesia and spinal anesthesia.

In preparing for a medical procedure, the health care provider giving anesthesia chooses and determines the doses of one or more drugs to achieve the types and degree of anesthesia characteristics appropriate for the type of procedure and the particular patient. The types of drugs used include general anesthetics, hypnotics, sedatives, intramuscular-blocking drugs, narcotic, and analgesics.

There are both major and minor risks of anesthesia. Examples of major risks include death, heart attack and pulmonary embolism whereas minor risks can include postoperative nausea and vomiting and hospital readmission. The likelihood of a complication occurring is proportional to the relative risk of a variety of factors related to the patient’s health, the complexity of the surgery being performed and the type of anesthetic. Of these factors, the person’s health prior to surgery (stratified by the ASA physical status classification system) has the greatest bearing on the probability of a complication occurring. Patients typically wake within minutes of an anesthetic being terminated and regain their senses within hours. One exception is a condition called long-term post-operative cognitive dysfunction, characterized by persistent confusion lasting weeks or months, which is more common in those undergoing cardiac surgery and in the elderly.

Pediatrics PG admission through management quota 2017-18

PG admission in Pediatrics

Pediatrics PG admission through management quota

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that deals with the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents, and the age limit usually ranges from birth up to 18-21 years of age (in some places until completion of secondary education). A medical practitioner who specializes in this area is known as a pediatrician, or pediatrician. The word pediatrics and its cognates mean “healer of children”; they derive from two Greek words: παῖς (pais “child”) and ἰατρός (iatros “doctor, healer”).

Master of Surgery admission in the academic year 2017,apply now

Master of Surgery admission in the academic year 2017

ms-in-surgery

Master of Surgery

MS in Obstetrics and Gynecology 2017, direct admission

Obstetrics and Gynecology (commonly known as OB/GYN, OBG, O&G or Obs & Gynae) is the medical specialty that deals with obstetrics and gynecology. The postgraduate training program for both aspects is unified. This combined training prepares the practicing OB/GYN to be adept at the care of female reproductive organs’ health and at the management of pregnancy.

Gynecology normally means treating women who aren’t pregnant, while obstetrics deals with pregnant women and their unborn children, but there is lots of crossover between the two. For example, women may be referred to gynecologists in the earlier stages of pregnancy, and obstetricians later in their term.

To grow as a gynecologist one must opt for 2 years of super specialty program or 2 years of residence, program after studying 4 years in a medical college. The course offers in-depth knowledge regarding gynecology. Programs could be taken up at degree level. During the last 2 years of MBBS program, a student can have exposure in this field.
